Why do people think that ''the cosby show'' is more timeless then ''family matters''?

i mean come one ok the cosby show came out in 1990 i think and family matters came out around 1989 and i have seen a handful of episodes for both of these shows but it seems like when i asked my mother and father they picked cosby over family matters i mean i was born in 1990 i am about to tun 21 in march and my parents are in their late 30,s so could it be from maybe they grow up with that show cuz its like more likely whichever one you grew up with youll choose it and i grew up with family matters and fm was a better show you could laugh cry and clapp cosby show acted too white
