Why did Bill Cosby receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom?

I'm doing a history project on the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and I need information on what certain recipient who has already won the award. I chose Bill Cosby because he relates to the person I would nominate to win the Presidential Medal of Freedom. And I found very little information on him, and I need some more. Could anyone help?
